The conference venue for EHDN 2008 is the FIL Meeting Centre
(FIL - Feira International de Lisboa) in Lisbon, a large and modern
exhibition centre. The Congress Center FIL and the Atlantic Pavilion
are located in a newly developed area of
Lisbon where in 1998 the World Exhibition took place - Parque das
Nações (Expo'98). The Parque das Nações has excellent accessibility -
the meeting venue is less than 10 minutes away from the international
airport of Lisbon (take a cab!) and can be easily reached by Metro.

The FIL Meeting Centre (Centro de Reuniões da FIL
- see picture) where the EHDN
Annual Plenary Meeting will take place is integrated in the
International Fair of Lisbon. Please do not mistake the FIL with the
huge Atlantic Pavilion (Pavilhão Atlântico) which is located opposite
to the FIL.
The
FIL Meeting Centre was built in 1989. The Meeting Centre houses four
auditoria and five meeting rooms which can be used in combination. In
1999, when the Lisboa Congress Centre moved to the Parque das Nações,
the FIL Meeting Centre was remodelled and equipped with up-to-date
Audiovisual and IT equipment and also with Wi-Fi System.
The FIL
Meeting Centre is located close to the river Tejo, which creates a
unique charm of this meeting location. Around the Meeting Centre,
smaller parks invite our participants to have a rest and to relax.
Due to the
Portuguese law, all public buildings like the FIL Meeting Centre are
non smoking venues. For smokers a separate area is available in
front of the building. We appreciate your cooperation.

Atlantic Pavilion (Pavilhão Atlântico)
The idea of creating a multifunctional hall for Lisbon was born during the creation process of the EXPO 1998. The Atlantic Pavilion
was built by the Portuguese architect Regino Cruz together with
Skidmore, Owings & Merril (SOM), North American architects. The
architecture of the Atlantic Pavilion is one of the magnets at the
Parque das Nações.
The Working Group Session will take place within the Atlantic Pavilion at the Business Centre which is to the right of the Congress Centre FIL.
The
convention style booth presentations of the Working Groups will take
place at the 'Espaço Fernando Pessa' (No 22). Additional oral
presentations will take place at the auditorium (No 23) and the
'Sala de Apoio' (No 24). The 'Espaço Fernando Pessa' can be separated
into 11 separate 'boxes' where, corresponding to the size of the room
and the size of the Working Group one or two Working Groups can present
posters and hand-outs. This exhibition style was chosen to promote a
better understanding of the goals and the activities of
the respectives working groups, to foster cooperation between the
working groups and to allow members of EHDN to make informed choices
about their active participation in working groups.
